The honest comparison
Typeform popularized the one-question-at-a-time form and is still one of the best-designed tools in the category — brands use it for lead gen, NPS, and quizzes where completion rate and polish matter. We built FormBharat for a different problem: Indian small businesses — coaching centres, clinics, salons, schools — that need AI-assisted form creation and India-specific templates without a per-response bill. Both now offer AI form generation from a prompt, so that's no longer a point of difference. The real gaps are in pricing, design polish, and which country's business the product was actually built around.
Feature by feature
Free plan capped at 10 responses/month total. Paid plans run about $25–129+/month depending on tier and billing cycle (Basic ~$25–39/mo for 100 responses, Plus ~$50–79/mo for 1,000, Business ~$83–129/mo for 10,000), plus a separate Growth Flow automation tier at $266–379/mo. Enterprise is custom-priced. · FormBharat is free during early access.
| Feature | TYPEFORM | FORMBHARAT |
|---|---|---|
| Free to use (no paid plan required)FormBharat has no paid tier yet — it's free during early access. Typeform's free plan exists but caps at 10 responses/month total, which isn't enough for real use. | ||
| No response-volume-based pricing capsDuring early access, FormBharat doesn't cap or charge by monthly responses. Typeform's Basic/Plus/Business tiers cap at 100/1,000/10,000 responses per month respectively — going over means upgrading. | ||
| AI form generation from a plain-English promptTypeform added 'Typeform AI', which builds a form from a prompt — similar in concept to FormBharat's AI generation. Both work; the platforms and pricing around them differ a lot. | ||
| Conversational, one-question-at-a-time design polishThis is Typeform's strongest feature — animated, one-question-at-a-time forms with a well-documented completion-rate advantage. FormBharat's forms are functional and fast to build, not that polished yet. | ||
| Industry-specific templates for Indian SMBsTypeform has a large template library, but it's generic and global (quizzes, job applications, event registration). FormBharat's 35+ templates are built around Indian SMB categories — schools, clinics, salons, retail. | ||
| WhatsApp-friendly sharingEvery FormBharat form gets a share link designed to render well when pasted into WhatsApp (a wa.me link, not a WhatsApp Business API integration). Typeform's link isn't WhatsApp-specific, though any link can be pasted anywhere. | ||
| Payment collection (UPI / card)Typeform accepts payments today via Stripe. FormBharat has a payment field built for UPI and card, but it's currently disabled platform-wide while we finish the rollout — launching soon. | ||
| Phone OTP verificationNeither platform has this live today. FormBharat's OTP field is built but gated behind a pending India telecom regulatory approval, not switched on yet. | ||
| E-signature fieldBoth platforms support an inline signature question for signing and sending agreements. | ||
| Conditional logic | ||
| File uploads | ||
| Team collaboration with pre-publish approvalTypeform supports multi-seat workspaces with roles and permissions, but no explicit review-and-approve-before-publish gate. FormBharat requires a team approval step before a form goes live. | ||
| DPDP (India) compliance documentationFormBharat publishes a public security and DPDP compliance page. Typeform documents GDPR and HIPAA in detail but not DPDP — it isn't built around the Indian market. |

Fair's fair
Typeform's one-question-at-a-time flow and animated, on-brand design are genuinely good at holding attention, and the completion-rate research behind that approach is well documented. It's also added real AI form generation ('Typeform AI') and a broader automation layer (Growth Flow, Salesforce, 500+ Zapier integrations) that go past a basic form builder — this is a mature, well-built product, just not one built for India.
Questions
Typeform prices by monthly response volume, not just seats. Basic starts around $25–39/month but only includes 100 responses/month — most businesses end up on Plus or Business ($50–129/month) once they're getting real traffic. The free plan caps at 10 responses/month total, which won't get you through a single busy week. You're also paying for a lot of design and conversion-rate work, which is real, but it adds up fast for a small business collecting a few hundred responses a month.
No, not yet. Typeform's one-question-at-a-time flow and animation are its best-known feature, and we don't have visual parity with that. If a beautifully animated, brand-forward form is the whole point — a marketing quiz, a consumer NPS survey — Typeform's design edge is real. FormBharat's forms are clean and quick to set up, built around India-specific needs like WhatsApp sharing rather than conversational animation.
FormBharat, if you're an Indian small business. It's free during early access, with no response caps or per-seat pricing. Typeform's free plan caps at 10 responses/month total — not enough for a coaching centre or clinic taking admissions or bookings. You'd need at least the $25–39/month Basic plan to collect 100 responses/month, and that still doesn't remove Typeform's branding from your form.
Yes — Typeform added 'Typeform AI', which builds a form from a prompt, similar in concept to FormBharat's AI form generation. It's a newer addition to their platform and sits behind the same response-volume pricing as everything else. The starting point is similar; the price and design system around it are very different.
Not yet. Typeform accepts payments today via Stripe. FormBharat has a payment field (built for UPI and card) and a phone OTP field already in the product, but both are currently switched off platform-wide — payments while we finish the rollout, OTP while we wait on a pending India telecom regulatory approval. We'd rather say that plainly than let you plan a form around something that isn't live.
FormBharat publishes a public security and DPDP (India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act) compliance page at formbharat.com/security. Typeform documents GDPR and HIPAA compliance in detail but doesn't address DPDP specifically — reasonable, since it isn't built around the Indian market.
